Daryl Backlund

Daryl Wayne Backlund, 54, died Monday, March 17, 2008 in Fargo, ND after an unexpected heart attack. Daryl was born on January 30, 1954 to Gordon and Genevieve Backlund in Alexandria, MN. He graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in Alexandria with academic honors and then attended Moorhead State College. While in college, Daryl began employment at United Electric in Fargo, ND. He remained there as a devoted employee his entire career. Daryl enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing with friends and family members. He even made a hole in one. Daryl was an avid reader and recently was in the process of rewrites for his first novel. Daryl was always helpful and generous to his friends and family and will be greatly missed. Daryl is survived by his mother, Genevieve Backlund, of Alexandria; a sister, Janice (James) Dyrdahl of Garfield; special niece, Jennifer Dyrdahl; and many relatives and friends. Memorial Service: Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota.
