Barbara Olson, 94, Fargo, died on January 17, 2020 at Bethany Nursing Home.

Barbara Nancy Johnson was born May 7, 1925, to Walter and Gerda Johnson in Quincy, Massachusetts. She attended Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School, Brown University and NDSU. She married Howard M. Olson on August 17, 1946 in Quincy, MA.

While living in Carrington, ND, Barbara taught Sunday school, directed the Federated Church Choir and taught senior high social studies at New Rockford for 12 years.

Howard and Barbara retired and moved to Fargo in 1986. While living in Fargo, she was a member of Calvary United Methodist women, P.E.O.- Chapter AU, Fine Arts (Drama Section) and NDSU Women’s Club of Fargo and numerous bridge groups.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Cindy (David) Blevins and Priscilla (Donald) Giffey; son Paul (Nancy) Olson; grandchildren, Todd (Nicole) Blevins, Christopher (Haleigh James, MD) Blevins, MD, Sarah (Eric) Kuntz, Timothy (Cheryl) Giffey, Rebecca Giffey, Patricia Olson, and Andrea (Erik) Diederich; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Howard and parents, Walter and Gerda Johnson.

The family would prefer memorials to go to Chapter AU, P.E.O. Scholar Award.
