Obituary

Thomas Meidinger passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Sheyenne Crossings Care Center in West Fargo, ND.

Tom was born June 20, 1925 to Ferdinand and Dorothea Meidinger in rural Wishek. He married Mildred Nies on November 16, 1948 and they farmed in rural Wishek until 1956, when the family moved to Moorhead, MN. Tom attended Molar Barber College and graduated in 1957. They moved back to Wishek, where Tom continued to farm and barber.

Tom was active with the Wishek Hospital Board, Tri County Fair Board, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Chamber of Commerce, and the Boy Scouts. During the summer of 1967, he and Millie moved their family to Jamestown, where Tom owned his own barber shop and continued to barber until he was 81. He was also active in the North Dakota Barbers’ Association and St. John’s Lutheran Church Council. Tom and Millie moved to Fargo in 2008.

Tom is survived by his children, Carolyn of Fargo, ND, Dean (Debi) of Lathrop, CA, and Wayne of Colton, SD; grandchildren, Matt (Samantha) Beshear of Fargo, Katrina (Clark) Mitchell of Sioux Falls, and Kristen (Jared) Sage of Columbus, OH; great-granddaughter, Kiera, of Sioux Falls; brothers, Roy, Bill, Joe, and Walter; and sisters, Rose Heyne and Wilma Speidel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; two sisters, and six brothers.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley, or the church or charity of your choosing.
