Bruce Parmer, 73, Fargo, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Sanford Hospital with his loving wife Debbie at his side.

Bruce Alan Parmer, affectionately known as "Bucky" to many, was born on February 21, 1950, to Joseph and Carol (Fauteck) Parmer in Fargo, ND. The third of three sons with one younger sister, Bruce grew up in north Fargo and attended Fargo Public Schools. Bruce graduated from Fargo North High School in 1968. He worked professionally as a master plumber during his career.

Bruce married Paula Sue Rusness on June 17, 1972. The couple raised their two sons, Nathan and Joseph, in Fargo until 1980 when they moved to Williston, ND. They moved back to Fargo in 1987, where they resided for the rest of their lives. Bruce played hockey in high school for the Fargo North Spartans and was proud to compete in their first-ever appearance at the North Dakota State High School Hockey Tournament. He continued to play for the Fargo Blazers and at Bemidji State University. Later he fostered his love of the sport by watching his sons play competitively in their youth, as a fan at UND games, and in recent years with near-perfect attendance at his grandsons' games. Bruce was also an avid golfer with many holes-in-one to his credit. He enjoyed the longstanding weekly appointments on the course with his friends at Oxbow and Detroit Lakes Country Clubs.

His first love Paula passed away in 2007. Years later, Bruce was given a second chance at love with Debbie (Jellum) Markey, a friend since childhood. The couple married on November 17, 2017. Bruce's greatest joy was his family, especially his four grandchildren. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family at his cabin on Lake Sallie, where he had enjoyed his summers since the early 1990s.

Bucky will be lovingly remembered for his boisterous laugh, quirky personality, and Olympian-level stubbornness. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Bruce is survived by: his wife Debbie, Fargo, ND; children: Nathan (Tracy) Parmer and Joseph Parmer (Nancy Ness); grandchildren: Paula, Nathan Jr., Luka, and Petra Parmer, all of Fargo; step-grandchildren: Rhiannon and Bella; brothers: Bob (Bev) Parmer, and Steve (Barb) Parmer; brothers-in-law: Paul Amstrup (Tanya Burckhard), Pete (Leigh Ann) Amstrup, Dave (Diane) Rusness, all of Fargo; mother-in-law, Bernice Amstrup, Fargo, ND; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his first wife Paula; his stepson Tim Markey; his parents, Joseph and Carol Parmer; his sister Cindy Parmer; and sister-in-law Peggy Laney.

Memorials are preferred to be given to the Shoreham Chapel in Detroit Lakes, MN.
